In 2007 we retrofitted our existing LAN. This retrofit included the replacement of non-compliant cabling with a more recent type that complies with the Cat6 cable standard. (The cat6 standard supports faster interconnection between workstations and servers). Also as part of the retrofit, we increased the number of connection points in the company by 20 percent. We upgraded our existing PCs and increased the total number of workstations in the company. These two steps allowed us to increase the number of positions within the company while at the same time enabling staff to work more.
WE HAVE LAUNCHED A NEW SERVICE: SECURE AND FAST ON-LINE PAYMENTS:
Working with ČSOB and Global Payments Europe (formerly MUZO) we have launched secure on-line card payments using ČSOB´s E-commerce service.
This system has been interconnected with our G5 registration system.
ČSOB E-commerce – on-line card payments
Unlike other Internet card acceptance methods, the ČSOB E-commerce service is secure for both clients and merchants.
ČSOB E-commerce is built on the 3-D Secure technology standard, which is supported by the two largest card associations, MasterCard (under the trademark MasterCard SecureCode) and Visa (Verified by Visa).
Merchants have no access to the information stored on clients´ payment cards, and all payment data is transferred securely. If the issuing bank also supports the 3-D Secure standard, the card holder is authenticated during the course of the internet transaction.
With the exception of the SSL protocol, current payment card acceptance methods on the internet do not use any additional security mechanisms. The new system provides improved security for both cardholders and merchants. The card holder enters his or her payment card number only on the payment portal website.
The payment portal for ČSOB is operated by Global Payments Europe a.s. (formerly MUZO a.s). GPE is considered a trusted third party by MasterCard and VISA. The client´s payment card details are never entered on the internet merchant´s system, the point which currently poses the highest level of threat of compromise of payment card details on the internet.
The principal advantage for the merchant is a lower risk of payment complaints. If the merchant does not use 3-D Secure for internet transactions, then a card holder can complain about an internet transaction at almost any time. In most such cases the merchant will lose its money.
However when the merchant clearance bank supports 3-D Secure, such as in it is the case of ČSOB´s E-commerce service, the payment card issuer loses the right to complain and any contingent damages arising from card abuse are refunded not by the merchant but by the issuing bank.
A prerequisite for internet acceptance of this service is that the merchant enables its clients to order goods and/or services on its website.
Which cards are accepted:
• VISA
• VISA Electron
• MasterCard
• Maestro
In order to use this service the merchant client’s issuing bank must have enabled the relevant card for e-commerce (on the internet).
Benefits of the Service:
• A secure and fast payment method for payment cardholders
• Acceptance of most widely-used payment cards – VISA and MasterCard (Diners Club and American Express cards will be supported in the near future)
• A lower risk of fraudulent transactions (card holder authentication) – The security level for both clients and merchants is the same as for card payments in stores
• Less time is required for payment card transactions and associated record keeping
